Welcome to my little studio. In it I love to draw and make things.

I have two nice work surfaces. The first is this great drafting table found at a yard sale for 50-. My dad cleaned it up and "voila" I have this wonderful place to layout my work.

It is so big I can proudly display my collection of markers and color pencils without them getting in the way. I use these tools on a daily basis and they make me happy.

Above this desk hangs a bulletin board with a multitude of things that inspire me. As you can see, much of what I love comes via snail mail. There is nothing like a handwritten note on beautiful stationery.

In a cleaning frenzy last year I decided to give away all my bookshelves. (Yep, I'm not too sure that was a smart idea either...) As a result, stacks of books decorate every room in my house, including the studio. The first stack is my collection of sketchbooks. Most of the books I draw in I find on sale at Borders. I like the fact that they are big and cheap...it takes the pressure off having to make "perfect" sketches.

Here's my other desk AND my computer. I could go on and on about Mac....but I'll spare you the details. Let me just say this...I love it. Above my desk hangs a painting I began working on a few years back. It's unfinished, but I like it that way.

I keep current projects in files on my desk. I really wish I was inherently organized, but this is something I definitely have to work at.

Under my desk, in his favorite spot, is my studio companion Pokey. Quite possibly the best dog ever, he is an expert at keeping my feet warm and unplugging my computer right in the middle of an unsaved project :(

To the right of this desk is a caricature of my fiance Edgar and I when we were in NYC a few years back. Under it is my favorite painting of Pokey.

Here are two more of my studio friends.

I'm lucky to have two big closets in my studio. They really help in my goal of staying organized. Off to the side of my closet is an enlarged film strip of my parents on a beach trip soon after they got married. This is one of my favorite possessions.

It's funny how some images leave indelible marks on your memory. Ever since I was little I wanted a closet like the one in the children's book "The Berenstain Bears and the Messy Room."

While I don't have the beautifully colored shoe boxes, I think this is as close as I'm going to get.

Well, we're at the end of the tour. Thanks so much for visiting and on your way out please feel free to take a card :)

Suzanne-
HOW COOL! I check out this site periodically and I was so excited to see your name. I really enjoy getting a glimpse at other artists' studios ... especially since I'm still trying to figure out what to do with mine.

Very, very AWESOME!

Oh yeah! I LOVED this. Nosing around your studio, how cool. As always, your handwriting is just perfection (on the last post). Perfection.

Love this site too. Good link.

I love your desk/studio!

Just wanted to tell you that although colorful shoes boxes are COOl...red stripe is far superior.

Wow Suzanne - how wonderful to finally see your studio space. I've been looking at this site for a year or so - and its really nice to see the workplace of someone I've otherwise come across in the blog-o-sphere...

And thank you Linzie for such a wonderful idea for a site!

Thanks for the great tour. Wonderful space you have there and most of all I would love to sit down with all those sketchbooks some afternoon and go through them.

Beth, Sandy, Sandy and Mithi-
Thank you all for your sweet comments! It's nice to be able to open up my space to others as normally it's just Pokey and I there!

Also, special thanks to Linzie for this really cool idea.

Surprise! I was looking at this blog and thought "that dog looks familiar". Sure enough it's Suzannes best friend Pokey. I love looking at your space. What a nice role model you are. I'd better get busy and start cleaning my space up. Wonderful tour.

I love your studio! It's so bright and colorful! I always wanted a closet like the one in the Berenstein bears' book, too! So far, I'm not quite there, as I don't have my own studio yet, but maybe one day. :)

I recently set up a home office. I am amazed how much more productive I have become. I decided to purchase new office furniture including a new desk and several files. With this modular configuration I can reconfigure the office every few months. This periodic change of view helps improve my productivity and creativity.

Ooooooh, markers. . . . Love seeing other people's studios. I do the same kind of thing that you do. I give away something that I want to have out of the way, and then a couple of weeks later, realize that I should have kept it.
